?Gender Voice Training: a Workshop Led by Gender-Diverse Speech-Language Pathologists is organized by University of Colorado School of Medicine and will be held from Jan 21 - 22, 2023 at Anschutz Medical Campus, Anschutz Health Sciences Building, Aurora, Colorado, United States of America.
?Learning Objectives:
Participants will:
• Critically examine and refine their voice specialized skills and cultural responsiveness for the provision of gender affirming voice services
• Identify multiple gender affirming target areas and the state of the research behind those target areas
• Recognize how prevention and treatment of voice disorders impacts the gender affirming voice training
• Describe what formants are and implement 3 different approaches for shifting vocal formants for gender euphoria
• Name the strengths and limitations of gender affirming pitch changing surgery
• Explain the role of SLP in people undergoing pitch elevation surgery and what is involved in pre- and post-operative therapy
• Identify pros and cons of telehealth model specific to gender affirming voice training
• Describe gender affirming methods for intake/assessment and discharge
