A key theme for this year's Annual Scientific Meeting is "Aerospace and the Next Generation." This is the topic for the meeting. It is now more important than ever to encourage the next generation of young people to consider entering career fields related to aerospace and serving as aerospace medicine professionals, engineers, pilots, operators, mechanics, and air traffic controllers, to name a few. This is because new technology and new entrants into the aviation and space environment are making the aerospace industry more competitive than ever before. In addition, members of the AsMA will need to keep full awareness of the advances and, in many cases, a working knowledge of them for us to be able to respond more effectively to the requirements of the aviation and space communities. As a result of the upcoming changes to the airspace system, we will need to think differently in the future.

Our presentations come from a wide variety of experts who will enhance the world's knowledge and understanding of the current challenges in Aerospace Medicine and demonstrate an impact on improving the health, safety, and human performance of those involved in aviation, space, and extreme environments. Because aerospace medicine is truly multi-disciplinary and international, our presentations come from various sources. The annual scientific meeting that we hold provides us with the opportunity to learn about the work that our colleagues are doing in different parts of the world, to share the knowledge and wisdom that we gain in the course of our day-to-day work and professional practice, and to contribute to the overall growth of the community of aerospace medicine.

Educational Objectives & Benefit:
In response to a survey provided at the end of each scientific meeting, our members indicated that there was a need for more information in the following 6 categories: Aerospace Medicine; Space Medicine; Medical Standards; FAA Medicals; Human Performance; and Accident Investigation.

The 93rd Annual Scientific Conference program will concentrate on these six primary subject areas. The most recent discoveries made in the disciplines of aviation and space medicine, human performance, and allied fields such as aerospace nursing, aerospace physiology, and human systems integration will be discussed throughout the sessions that will be held.

Abstracts are centered on the meeting objectives, which are aligned with the theme. The participant will:
• Implement the principles of evidence-based medicine, operational risk management, and aeromedical decision-making in the process of selecting aircrew members and practicing clinical aerospace medicine;
• Become familiar with the latest trends in aerospace medicine and learn the best practices;
• Evaluate mechanical, human performance, and systems integration issues in aviation disasters and safety programs;
• Identifying the mechanical, biological, social, cognitive, and environmental stressors, as well as the system's elements, that have an impact on optimal human performance and decision-making throughout the full range of aerospace operations; and
• Apply ethical principles to decision-making in aerospace medicine; cultivate proficiency in professionalism and systems-based practice in the application of aerospace medicine skills, teamwork, and interoperability in a professional environment that includes a number of different disciplines;
