OVERVIEW

The 57th Annual Baker Gordon Educational Symposium is organized by Baker Gordon Symposium and will be held from Feb 09 - 11, 2023 at Hyatt Regency Miami, Miami, Florida, United States of America.

Description:
The perception of progress is ephemeral, in that evolution does not necessarily lead to advancement. We tend to view contemporary techniques as “state of the art” while perceiving earlier concepts as antiquated or obsolete. Being at the epicenter of aesthetic surgery education since 1967 provides a unique perspective regarding our theme for the 57th Baker Gordon Symposium on Cosmetic Surgery, examining “Aesthetic Outcome Progression over the Last Half Century-What Have We Learned”. While both techniques and technology have certainly evolved, the demands of patient-specific anatomy and aesthetic consistency remain persistent challenges. Even as change occurs, many things remain constant and the improvements we discern remain subjective impressions.
This year’s Symposium will examine the aesthetic and technical progression over the last half-century in Face Lifting, Body Contour Surgery, Breast Augmentation, and Rhinoplasty (Preservation and Structural). Technological advances, as well as limitations in Nonsurgical Skin Tightening and improved outcomes utilizing Injectable Fillers and Neuromodulators, will be presented.
The Hallmark of the Baker Gordon Symposium is live surgery demonstrations. For the 57th Symposium, FIVE LIVE surgeries have been scheduled, including demonstrations of alternative techniques in Face Lifting; the Extended SMAS Facelift, and the Extended Deep Plane Facelift.
Primary Breast Augmentation, emphasizing methods to avoid reoperation will be presented as well as a surgical demonstration illustrating the incorporation of ultrasonic guidance in autogenous gluteal augmentation, improving safety and outcome. A live demonstration of the open approach to Preservation Rhinoplasty will be presented.
The Keynote Speaker for the 57th Baker Gordon Symposium is Dr. Julian Pribaz, Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of South Florida and a pioneer in face transplantation while serving as a primary investigator during his tenure at Harvard.
Widely regarded for his expertise in reconstructive surgery, Dr. Pribaz will examine the arbitrary division between reconstructive and aesthetic surgery and will share his experience on methods to bridge this divide through artistic solutions.
While we recognize the difficulty in travel and the paucity of live forums for educational interchange following the pandemic, we feel there is no substitute for a live meeting, combining faculty didactics with attendee interaction. While virtual meetings have been commonplace during the pandemic, the 57th Baker Gordon Symposium will only be offered live, to maximize the interchange and educational experience that can only occur in a live meeting.
