43rd Annual Society for Mental Health Research (SMHR) Conference is organized by WALDRONSMITH Management (WSM) and will be held from Nov 29 - Dec 01, 2023 at Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough, Perth, Western Australia, Australia.
Description:
People are at the heart of what we do at SMHR – as mental health researchers, we aim to positively impact the lives of individuals of all ages, experiences, and walks of life. However, too often, people’s experiences are not considered in light of the many contexts in which they exist – from family systems, school or work environments, regional or metropolitan locations or broader societal and political contexts. For SMHR 2023, we invite you to reflect on the conference theme of ‘People and Place’, encouraging attendees to broaden their perspective on research to include not just the who, but the how, what, where, and why of mental health research.
In line with this theme, for the first time, SMHR 2023 will have particular emphasis on showcasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research – both in terms of research conducted by Indigenous colleagues, and work done to improve the mental health and wellbeing of this population. As the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work, we acknowledge the connection to Country that has been central to Indigenous cultures for tens of thousands of years. We hope to draw on this wisdom, through the conference theme, by giving attention to the importance of place (context) in mental health research and ensuring that research around marginalised and traditionally under-represented populations are given a greater voice at SMHR 2023.
Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
