2023 Annual Meeting: Psychopathology and Complexity is organized by American Psychopathological Association (APPA) and will be held from Mar 02 - 04, 2023 in New York City, New York, United States of America.
Theme: Complexity in Psychopathology: One Size Does Not Fit All.
Description:
Biological psychiatry research has made very significant progress, but it has become clear that brain abnormalities in psychiatric disorders are complex and multifactorial. This complexity is increasingly standing in the way of further advances and the development of new treatments. In addition, recent debates around DSM-5, RDoC, HiTOP, clinical staging, and other approaches to psychopathology indicate that our best hope for meaningful progress is to couple a better understanding of psychopathology with biological approaches. With this background, the 2023 meeting will focus on “Psychopathology and Complexity”. The meeting will feature speakers describing the state of the art in complex systems science as well as applications of complexity principles to the study of the brain and behavior. There will also be opportunities to discuss how brain biology and psychopathology interact and mold one another in a dynamic way and how complexity can help us understand this process. This meeting is intended to stimulate discussion about what complexity science can teach us about the emergence of abnormal experiences.
Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
