Protein Purification and Biophysical Characterisation is organized by Biochemical Society and will be held from Apr 21 - 22, 2022 at University Of Bedfordshire STEM Building, Luton, England, United Kingdom.
Description:
Protein purification and biophysical characterization of the resultant protein are two significant areas in modern biochemistry that are widely used in both academic and industrial research. The usefulness and utility of the technology used to purify proteins continues to improve. This training course, held at the University of Bedfordshire's STEM Building, will introduce participants to the most up-to-date hardware used in protein purification as well as biophysical measurements of a protein's hydrodynamic radius and sedimentation properties in the presence and absence of a divalent metal ion.
Attendees will have hands-on experience with AKTA START protein purification systems as well as Fluidity One, a benchtop device that delivers a rapid, reliable measurement of protein hydrodynamic radius at low concentrations and volumes that other approaches, such as dynamic light scattering, cannot.
Learners will see how the multiwavelength Optima Analytical Ultracentrifuge (AUC) analyses samples in their original state under biologically relevant solution conditions via a live link with UCL's Department of Structural and Molecular Biology. The lectures will provide a full introduction to protein purification, microfluidics, and AUC by providing background theory on the techniques employed.
Additional details will be posted as soon as Information is available.
