This is a 2-day practical cadaveric operative training workshop for surgeons, anesthetists, and theatre nurses who are likely to be involved in the surgical treatment of traumas that are major in children. We integrate team decision-making and communication under pressure with surgical methods. Operative techniques are focused on the treatment of junctional and truncal injuries. The discussions, lectures, and case studies examine the fundamentals that underlie damage management surgery for children in multi-specialty surgical teams and the human aspects of managing under pressure. The experience is shared by surgical specialists from the military and humanitarian field and recent significant events in the UK.

• Damage control resuscitation & surgery
• Managing exsanguinating hemorrhage
• Traumatic cardiac arrest
• Penetrating trauma
• Clamshell thoracotomy
• Pericardial tamponade and penetrating
