Non-clinical Careers for Physicians: Fall Institute 2022 is organized by the American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) and will be held on Oct 30, 2022, at Scottsdale, Arizona, United States of America.
Description :
Having a medical degree doesn’t restrict you to working as a clinician! There are myriad ways that you can use your training, experience, and unique skill set in a variety of industries and job settings. Too many physicians feel disengaged or unfulfilled by conventional patient care but are hesitant to explore nonclinical jobs or are simply unaware of the options available to them. This course explores a range of nonclinical careers, teaches you how to identify fitting career opportunities, and prepares you to successfully obtain and thrive in a nonclinical role. We are excited to announce new changes being implemented into our course structure for Fall Institute to better support your professional development. Once you have completed this course, in addition to completing the course assessment and evaluation, you will be asked to submit an action plan that will identify and summarize the ways you intend to apply the course content to your practice. You will also be required to provide feedback on a peer’s action plan. You can expect to spend about two hours on this post-work activity and will have four weeks following the course to complete it. It is important to note, that completion of this post-work activity will be required to receive your CME for the course.
Course Objectives :
• Recognize ways in which skills and experiences from clinical work can be translated to nonclinical roles.
• Identify types of nonclinical job opportunities that are fitting for career goals, preferences, needs, and personal interests.
• Explore ways in which leadership skills can be applied to nonclinical careers.
• Outline an approach to transitioning to a nonclinical career or adding nonclinical work to a clinical career.
• Apply techniques to optimize resumes, networking behaviors, and interview responses for nonclinical roles.
Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
