Transforming Trauma: Learning from the Past, Embodying the Present & Creating a Healthy Future (2022 Arizona Regional Conference) is organized by International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) and will be held from Oct 07 - 08, 2022 at Embassy Suites by Hilton Scottsdale Resort, Scottsdale, Arizona, United States of America.
Description:
Participants will be able to recognize symptoms of posttraumatic stress as well as distinguish between dissociation and PTSD. They will discuss how to deal with difficult clients, especially those who are not responding to standard interventions. Lynette will present foundational strategies to identify and treat complex trauma and dissociation. Participants will be able to learn somatic grounding skills that facilitate coregulation and interrupt patterns of nervous system regulation. This will help to reduce intrusive thoughts and experiences. The training is based on real-life clinical situations that address the most difficult clinical moments. It also includes a consultation with Lynette or Lisa who have combined over 50 years of experience in supporting traumatized populations across the US and internationally. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of trauma and how it affects us, the skills to cultivate embodied presence during sessions, and a roadmap that will help us reduce harm and cultivate healing for clients and communities.
Learning Objectives -
Participants will have the opportunity to:
• Identify the trauma-related impacts on individuals and systems
• Distinguish between hyperarousal due to PTSD and dissociative signs
• Use three different somatic grounding strategies in your sessions with clients
• Use techniques to help clients who are flooded with traumatic memories
• Identify common issues that traumatized clients face and suggest possible solutions
