Modifications in the microbiome or nutrient sensing in the gut can alter whole-body glucose homeostasis and whole-body energy. It is still unclear what the underlying mechanism of these metabolic disorders in diabetes, obesity, and other related disorders are and how they can be treated. The Keystone Symposia conference will highlight a range of fundamental and translational research and discoveries, primarily focusing on microbial host interaction and nutrient sensing mechanisms. Other sessions will focus on the interaction of the gut microbiome with nutrient-sensing pathways, as well as how small molecules and/or immune responses could target these pathways within the gut to affect systemic organs. This conference will promote collaboration between basic, translational, and pharmaceutical researchers. It also aims to foster interactions among the clinical, academic, and pharmaceutical research communities.
