The Hospitalist and Emergency Procedures Course are organized by Hospital Procedures Consultants (HPC). It will be held from Nov 12 - 13, 2022, at Courtyard by Marriott San Antonio Riverwalk, San Antonio, Texas, United States of America.
Course Description:
HPC provides the premier Hospitalist Procedures Live CME courses to teach clinicians how to perform the 20 most common bedside procedures needed to work in the ER, ICU and hospital wards. We have a proven methodology that has successfully trained over 6,000 physicians and advanced practice providers on how to safely and competently perform these hospital procedures. Students learn the didactics via 17 online modules and then attend a one-day 100% hands-on procedural skills lab training with six instructors.
All students will gain online access to our 19 didactic modules that include all the lectures and procedural videos for our Hospitalist and Emergency Procedures course. These modules should all be completed before your scheduled hands-on skills lab session. As such, you will be able to complete all of the didactic preparation for our course anywhere and anytime, and you will be able to review all of the lectures and full-length procedural videos as often as you would like for a whole year!
After you have finished the didactic modules, you will join us for a full weekend of simulation-based training in ALL of these medical procedures. The training will be conducted over a time span of 10 hours per day. The day of training includes 100% practical laboratory training that includes SIX instructors (a 6:1 ratio of student to faculty)! You will receive personalized, hands-on instruction in ultrasound-guided landmarks and central line placement and ultrasound-guided peripheral IV placement as well as intraosseous line positioning, arterial line placement, vascular ultrasound spine ultrasound, chest ultrasound, echocardiography with limited capabilities E-FAST exams as well as RUSH tests, landmark-guided and ultrasound-guided paracentesis, thoracentesis and the lumbar puncture, needle decompression and chest tube placement the placement of a pigtail catheter. Basic suturing, endotracheal tube intubation, King tube airway positioning, and laryngeal mask airway positioning as well as style-guided intubations. Glidescope intubation and fiberoptic intubations, cricothyroidotomy, and other methods for managing difficult airways. Training for bedside ultrasound will be provided on the basis of paid ultrasound models.

Objectives:
Students will be taught the contraindications, indications, and methods through the hands-on learning process and complications of the 20 most frequently used hospitalist procedures. Students will also learn to carry out procedural sedation, mechanical ventilation, point-of-care ultrasound to aid in diagnostic ultrasound procedures, and coding and documentation.
Course Goals:
After having completed this exercise, the participant will be able to:
• Define the indications and contraindications for each procedure.
• Identify the relevant anatomy and the proper position for each procedure.
• Show the proper technique for each procedure.
• List the most frequent complications that can arise from each procedure.
• Use the appropriate strategies for managing procedural issues
• Identify the risk factors that could cause complications in every procedure
HPC COMPANY POLICIES REGARDING COURSE REFUNDS/CREDITS
COVID-19 PANDEMIC
1. Course Cancellation by HPC due to COVID-19 Pandemic
During the COVID-19 pandemic, HPC will follow guidance issued by local public health officials to conduct each course safely. HPC will comply with all local regulations and if local policy decisions require course cancellation, customers will be issued a full refund or credit toward a future course. If a refund is requested, progress through the HPC online course will be reviewed by HPC staff and the full credit will be reduced by an amount determined by the customer’s percentage of completion of the online course. Hospital Procedures Consultants is NOT responsible for any registrant travel or accommodation expenses.
2. Customers with COVID-19 infection immediately prior to course
Customers who have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 at the time of the course should have a COVID-19 PCR test and not attend the course. HPC will offer a 100% credit towards a future course (minus a $100 processing fee) with documentation on official letterhead from the customer’s employer, the customer’s department director or the hospital infection control officer that states the customer has a positive COVID test and is in quarantine.
3. Customers with recent COVID-19 symptoms who wish to attend the course
Customers who have had recent symptoms consistent with COVID-19 may only attend the course with documentation of a negative COVID PCR test within 72 hours of the first day of the course.
COURSE CANCELLATION POLICY
1. Cancellations 30 days or more prior to a course
Customers are entitled to a refund of the registration amount minus a $100 processing fee or 100% credit towards a future course.
2. Cancellations 15-29 days prior to a course
Customers are entitled to a 50% refund of the registration amount minus a $100 processing fee or a 75% credit towards a future course .
3. Cancellations 8-14 days prior to a course
Customers are entitled to a 25% refund of the registration amount minus a $100 processing fee or a 50% credit towards a future course .
4. Cancellations less than 7 days prior to a course
No refunds or credits will be given.
5. In the event of an emergency involving death or hospitalization of student or an immediate family member (accompanied by supporting documentation)
HPC will offer 100% credit towards a future course (minus a $100 processing fee) in the event of an emergency which includes the hospitalization of a student or death of an immediate family member (spouse or children only) during the week prior to a course. Any other illness or injury will be treated according to our standard cancellation policies. HPC does not provide credit or refunds because of natural disasters, weather-related problems or travel-related delays that are out of our control. To obtain future course credit, please email our company supporting documentation of the above-mentioned emergencies.
6. Cancellations must be made in writing and by phone
Cancellation can be made by email, fax, or direct mail and must be confirmed over the phone. If direct mail is used, the date the notice is received by the HPC staff determines the category of cancellation as above.
7. Cancellation of Courses
If HPC cancels a course, a full refund of the registration amount will be issued. Hospital Procedures Consultants is NOT responsible for any registrant travel or accommodation expenses.
8. Sold out courses
Hospital Procedures Consultants maintains a maximum capacity for our courses so that each participant has ample time for hands-on training. If courses are sold out, please notify our staff if you would like to be on the waiting list should a cancellation occur.
9. Hotel Room Reservations
Hospital Procedures Consultants has reserved a block of rooms at a discounted room rate at the host hotel for every course. Registrants are encouraged to call the host hotel early and mention that you are attending the Hospital Procedures Consultants course to receive your group discount. Please call to reserve your hotel room early since the room blocks fill up quickly, and after this point the hotel reverts to standard room rate charges. Refer to the specific course location page for hotel and room rate information.
10. Registration Confirmation
All registrants should receive a written notice by email once registration is paid in full. If you have not received a course confirmation by email within 24 hours, please check your spam folder.
