Expedition Medicine course

The expedition Medicine course is organized by the University of Tasmania (UTAS), Continuing Professional Development Unit, and will be held from Nov 12 - 19, 2022 at Seneca College Newnham Campus, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Description:
The eight-day, intensive and practical residential courses are currently being provided at The University of Tasmania in partnership with the Australian Antarctic Division as stand-alone courses or as a core course as an element of the Healthcare in Extreme and Remote Environments program.

These courses provide practical and theoretical coverage of the following subjects:
• Pre-expedition planning and medical kit
• Wilderness medical emergency response
• Environment medicine (cold trauma, medical treatment for elevation, and Avalanche burial and rescue)
• Search and rescue
• Steep terrain rescue
• Use of stretchers and splints
• Leadership and teamwork
• Remote area communications
• Navigation
