Diagnosis and Management of Temporomandibular Disorders (TMDs) In General Dental Practice is organized by Griffith University and will be held from Aug 06 - 07, 2022 at Griffith University, Gold coast, Queensland, Australia.

Description:
The main objective of the course is to simply provide a thorough grasp of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) and the confidence to diagnose and treat TMDs in the course of regular clinical practice.

Learning Objectives:
Anatomy and Physiology of the TMJ:
• In the conclusion of this presentation, with regard to the orofacial osseous, ligamentous, and neuromuscular systems and how they connect to the TMJ, participants will have a strong grasp of applied anatomy.

Radiology of the TMJ:
• Review the imaging anatomy of the temporomandibular joint

Clinical Examination of the TMJ:
• Be familiar with physical and clinical examination of patients and TM disorders 
• Get to know how to diagnose and manage myofascial pain 
• At the completion of this lecture, participants will be able to confidently perform a basic evaluation of the TMJ and related orofacial musculature

Overview of TMJ disorders:
• After this session, participants will comprehend the causes and characteristics of TMJ neuromuscular problems.

Exploring the Radiographic Changes Related to Temporomandibular Joint Abnormalities:

• Review of the temporomandibular joint disorders that have led to radiographic alterations

Management of myofascial pain:
• Understanding the various potential treatment options and a management regimen for myofascial pain

The Conservative Management of TMD including the Use of Splints:
• Learn about the conservative management of the TMDs including the use of splints – occlusal stabilisation splint (Dr Meer); mandibular repositioning splint (Dr Bakr)
• At the end of this lecture, participants will be able to select and adjust appropriate oral appliances for the management of TMD and sleep apnoea.
