British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS) Principle Course is organized by British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS) and will be held from Feb 07 - 09, 2022 at Guildford, England, United Kingdom.
Overview:
The BOFAS Principles Course is an exciting course designed to teach the core foot & ankle content in the FRCS (Orth) curriculum in an informal and interactive environment. There is emphasis on clinical examination cases, discussion groups and opportunity for simulating exam conditions.
These courses are aimed at Higher Surgical Trainees / ST3 onwards and are designed to teach the core of Foot and Ankle surgery in an informal and interactive environment.
The emphasis is on clinical examination cases, discussion groups and typical day-to-day clinic scenarios. Although not an exam preparation course, content is taught to the standard expected in the FRCS(Tr & Orth) exam; that of a day-one non-specialist orthopaedic consultant.
Course Content:
• Clinical examination of the foot and ankle
• Foot and ankle anatomy and biomechanics
• Degenerative foot and ankle conditions
• Acquired flat foot
• Deformity and neuromuscular disorders
• Rheumatoid disorders
• Diabetic foot and Charcot
• Principles of orthoses
• Foot and ankle trauma
Typically the courses cover topics including:
• Clinical examination of the foot and ankle
• Forefoot disorders including rheumatoid arthrits
• Acquired flatfoot
• Hindfoot and ankle osteoarthritis
• Neuromuscular disorders
• Ankle arthroscopy & instability
• Heel pain and tendoachilles disorders
• Diabetic foot and Charcot arthropathy
• Orthotics
• Lisfranc fractures
• Ankle fractures
• Pilon and hindfoot injuries
