Description:
The goal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support course, in conjunction with the basic Life Support training, is to equip the student with (1) information required to identify infants and children at risk of suffering from cardiopulmonary arrest, (2) Information and strategies necessary to prevent cardiac arrest in children and infants and (3) the psychomotor and cognitive abilities required to stabilize infants and children suffering from shock, respiratory failure or cardiac arrest. As well as the goals above, Each student will be able to provide the most recent AHA guidelines on Basic Life Support to Adult and Pediatric groups.
The following are the course's objectives for basic life support providers:
• To educate people about the symptoms, risk factors, and warnings of heart disease.
• To give instructions on how to maintain survival, cardiac health, and lung and heart function.
• To teach medical personnel how to do CPR with one rescuer, CPR with two rescuers, and how to treat foreign body airway obstruction in adults, children, and infants.
• To provide guidance on how to use barrier devices properly.
• To provide instructions on how to use an AED.
