Goals and Objectives:
After participating in this activity, the attendee will be able to:
• Explore the advanced specialized training of anesthesiologists and ways to demonstrate this value to healthcare systems.
• Through topic-based discussions, reflect on the Institute of Medicine's six aims of quality care: patient-centered care, patient safety, timeliness, efficient care, effective care and equitable care.
• Discuss updates in essential perioperative management including pre-operative evaluation and optimization, management of sepsis and intraoperative fluids, as well as transfusion medicine.
• Review medicolegal issues surrounding technology and devices for the anesthesiologist in the 21st century.
• Identify the benefits of regional and multimodal therapies to develop strategies for improving pain management in the perioperative setting.
• Allow for hands-on learning with Point-of-Care Ultrasound (PoCUS) and Ultrasound Guided Regional Anesthesia workshops including basic transthoracic echo and regional anesthesia techniques.
• Share knowledge, expertise and network with colleagues, industry experts and academic anesthesiologists on the forefront of anesthesiology.
