The study of metabolism and metabolic diseases has spread from the field of endocrinology to other disciplines within the life sciences, leading to a spectacular growth in metabolism research. The aim of this 3-day conference in the vibrant city of Wuxi is to bring together experts working on metabolic aspects of the most common diseases, including cardiovascular disease, obesity and cancer. The unifying theme of the conference is how metabolism is dysregulated in these disease states and how metabolic pathways can be potential drug targets. The broad scope of the conference will provide opportunities to highlight common and contrasting principles of metabolic regulations across these diseases.
