This local and regional conference is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, health care professionals, patients and caregivers.

Description:
This CME event led by the Advanced Lung Disease Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care seeks to fulfill the need of patients, caregivers, practicing pulmonologists, primary care physicians, advanced-practice providers, and allied health care practitioners in the academic and community settings to achieve an accurate diagnosis and implement a comprehensive treatment plan for patients with interstitial lung disease. This will be unique in that it not only will educate medical providers but also seeks to bridge a gap between patient and medical provider. By educating not only providers but patients and caregivers a more cohesive approach to management can occur along with improved satisfaction from the standpoint of the patient and physician when everyone is on the wavelength. A team of multidisciplinary experts will address common challenges in diagnosis, communication of diagnosis, radiographic interpretation, diagnostic testing and classification, disease management, both pharmacologic and non pharmacologic. The goal of the symposium is to improve the delivery of early appropriate, and comprehensive care to the patient and with the interstitial lung disease and enabling the patient and caregiver to become proactive in their management. The conference will be geared primarily to providers in the morning and both patients and providers in the afternoon.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
• List critical findings in the history and physical exam specific to interstitial lung disease (ILD) patients
• Understand and describe testing indicated for different populations of ILD patients independent of symptoms
• Understand the role of stem cell therapies in ILD and their limitations
• New indications for the use of anti-fibrotic therapy in appropriate patients and develop comprehensive multidisciplinary management strategies
• Understand the role of radiologic imaging in the diagnosis of ILD and its limitations
• Identify and understand the role of Mental Health in ILD
• Identify and understand how to provide non-pharmacologic treatments to provide for ILD patients at their first clinic visit
• Recognize, understand and treat/magnate co morbidities most commonly associated in patients with ILD.
• Recognize and manage acute exacerbations
