Course Description:
Tooth Trauma Can Be a Drastic Experience for Those Affected, Often a Child. While the Patient Initially Focuses on Eliminating the Immediate Consequences of the Accident, the Practitioner Must Take Into Account the Often Far-reaching Consequences of Individual Therapy Options. In General, It Is a Matter of Considering  All 5 Tissues (Hard Tooth Substance, Endodontium, Periodontium, Adjacent Alveolar Bone and Oral Soft Tissue) That Can Be Affected in a Dental Accident and Treating Them Appropriately.

In the Treatment of Tooth Fractures, Vitality-preserving Measures Are in the Foreground From an Endodontic Point of View. Teeth With Incomplete Root Growth Can Continue to Grow in Length and Thickness. From a Restorative Point of View, It Is Important to Restore Function and Aesthetics as Optimally as Possible. The Restorative Treatment of Crown-root Fractures Is Extremely Difficult Due to the Subgingival Defect Margins. Various Alternatives Are Available for Representing Defects and Producing the Biological Width. In Many Cases, Orthodontic or Surgical Extrusion Is a Useful Way to Preserve Teeth.

In the Case of Serious Injuries to Periodontal Structures (Intrusions and Avulsions), There Is a High Risk of External Root Resorptions. Here, the Promotion of Wound Healing Processes in the Injured Tissue Is the Focus of All Therapeutic Efforts. Cell Physiological Storage Media, Tetracyclines, Steroids, Enamel Matrix Proteins and Biocompatible Materials Are Individual Pieces of the Puzzle That Complement Each Other to Create New Therapy Concepts and, in Complex Cases, Can Make Decisions About Tooth Preservation or Loss.

Prof. Krastl, Founder of the First German Dental Accident Center in Würzburg, Offers a Deep Insight Into the Clinical Treatment Concept: Current, Concise, Practical.
