The course is aimed at doctors during their ST education in internal medicine, emergency care and cardiology, but also at general practitioners with an interest in arrhythmia and finished internal medicine who wish to refresh their knowledge in the field of arrhythmia.

Description:
Developments in the field of arrhythmia are progressing rapidly and new findings are being added continuously.
The course aims partly to provide basic knowledge in arrhythmia interpretation based on ECG, partly to provide knowledge about acute and elective investigation, how to risk assess different arrhythmias and what treatment these conditions require. During the course, the latest findings and recommendations are discussed. The course intends, among other things, to cover the need for knowledge required to be able to provide answers to the following questions;
• How to distinguish the different arrhythmia forms based on ECG?
• What are the indications for pacemaker therapy? How to interpret pacemaker ECG?
• What medicines should be used for PSVT? What are the risk situations for WPW syndrome?
• How are atrial fibrillation patients examined? What are the new antiarrhythmics and when should they be used? Which patients should have warfarin and thrombin inhibitors, respectively, and when should treatment be started? When should conversion with electricity or pharmaceuticals take place or frequency regulation? Which patients should undergo ablation and when?
• In which situations is VES harmless and when is it dangerous? How to treat VES? How do I treat patients with acute VT? How should we risk assess at VT of different genesis? Which patients should have ICD? What drugs are available and how should they be used?
• What is CRT treatment? What new findings are there? When should this treatment be given and combined with a defibrillator?

Overall goals:
The goal is that the participants after completing the course, in addition to emergency treatment, should also be able to independently handle and carry out investigations of our more common arrhythmias and have some knowledge of the more rare but potentially life-threatening arrhythmias. The participant must be able to independently diagnose arrhythmia mechanism based on ECG and be able to perform the treatment and know the investigation procedure for each arrhythmia. The participant must have knowledge of the latest recommendations based on national and international guidelines.
The purpose is also to be able to decide which patients have an indication for a pacemaker, implantable defibrillator (ICD), so-called CRT treatment and which conditions are most appropriately treated with catheter ablation.
