Course Description:
The program is designed for physicians, sonographers, technologists and other health care professionals seeking to acquire the skill sets and knowledge base required to apply, perform and interpret Transcranial Doppler (TCD) and Transcranial Doppler Imaging (TCDI) studies. Didactic lectures and daily faculty-guided hands-on scanning sessions will provide learners with the opportunity to view and practice TCD and TCDI techniques. Interactive case studies will serve to further develop interpretation skills and clarify the role of TCD/TCDI in the management of patients with cerebrovascular disease. Lectures will cover the various settings in which TCD is performed including the diagnostic laboratory, emergency room, neurocritical care unit, operating rooms and endovascular procedure rooms.

Course Objectives:
Students who successfully complete the course will be able to:
• Identify basic principles of intracranial arterial vascular anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology
• Demonstrate the proper techniques for the performance of TCD and TCDI
• Recognize normal and abnormal intracranial Doppler spectral waveforms
• Describe the clinical usefulness and limitations of TCD and TCDI techniques
• Apply basic TCD/TCDI Interpretation to real cases.

Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
