The 35th Annual San Diego International Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment

The 35th Annual San Diego International Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment is organized by Chadwick Center for Children and Families. The symposium is held from Jan 25 - 31, 2020 at Town and Country San Diego, San Diego, California, United States of America.

Target Audience:
A multidisciplinary audience from fields of: medicine, mental health, legal, investigations, education, domestic violence, infant and early childhood, administration, public policy, and research.

Accreditation:
Continuing Education is in the form of the following: credits, contact hours and clock hours.
Up to 49.5* continuing education credits/contact hours/clock hours may be earned by attending the San Diego International Conference Saturday & Sunday institutes and workshop sessions.

Preconference Institutes: 7.0 to 14.0 hours, may be earned by attendance at the Sunday and Monday institutes. Conference Sessions: 28.5 hours, may be earned by attendance to the Conference sessions. Each attendee may claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spends in the educational activity.

American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) – PENDING APPROVAL-This Live activity, 35th Annual San Diego International Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment, with a beginning date of 01/25/2020, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 49.5 Prescribed credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) – PENDING APPROVAL- This continuing medical education activity has been reviewed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and is acceptable for a maximum of 49.5 AAP credits. These credits can be applied toward the AAP CME/CPD Award available to Fellows and Candidate Members of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) - The Chadwick Center is an approved provider of continuing education for the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # CEP 14264. Nurses may claim up to 49.5* contact hours.

California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) – Course meets the qualifications for 49.5* hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Provider approved by CEPA, Provider # 75651.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) – The University of California, San Diego School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Description:
The mission of this session is that all multidisciplinary services in the areas of child maltreatment and family/community violence are conscious of all the current information and methods in the areas of prevention, assessment, investigation, diagnosis, and treatment of multiple forms for trauma to child and families.

Through inclusive sessions, workshops, hands-on skill stations, research sessions, focus groups and forums, the meeting addresses and presents the access to the latest information, research reports, and methods of diagnosis, treatment, technology development, improvements in medical knowledge, epidemiological and QA data, and morbidity and mortality. Additionally, evidence and research-based practices & topics are granted to fill in the spaces and alter the most advanced analysis to the consideration regarding the child abuse professional society. The expert patron must employ and cite professional journal articles and literature citations.

The symposium holds approximately 200 presenters, and each presenter will acknowledge a minimum of 3 articles with all professions to implement in their daily practice.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
• Develop professional skills in the prevention, recognition, assessment, and treatment of all forms of maltreatment.
• Discuss issues concerning support for families, prevention, leadership, policy-making, and translating the latest research into action.
