Stabilization and transport of the critically ill child is organized by Imperial College London and will be held from Jun 15 - 16, 2020 at St Mary's Hospital, London, England, United Kingdom.

Target Audience:
This course is open to doctors, nurses and allied health professionals encountering the critically ill child.

Course Description:
This course aims to equip healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills to assess, resuscitate and stabilise the critically ill child. The course will cover common paediatric emergencies and provide management strategies for the initial stabilisation of the patient. The course is designed to work on optimising multi-disciplinary team functionality in adverse situations. The course will provide the opportunity to practice the skills taught in a variety of workshops and simulated learning events.

Course Aims:
By the end of the course students will be able to:
• Plan how a critically ill child can be assessed rapidly.
• Evaluate the function of multidisciplinary teams and the methods used to debrief difficult clinical scenarios.
• Appraise the indications for advanced airway management and how to institute mechanical ventilation.
• Propose initial management for different pathologies including respiratory, circulatory and neurological failure
• Rehearse resuscitation skills.
• Review common practical procedures in critically ill children and the equipment used on PIC transport.
