Targeted Audience

The session is intended mainly for the physicians, virology technicians, technologists, laboratory supervisors, laboratory directors and other healthcare professionals with an interest in diagnostic molecular biology.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the session, participants will be able to,

  • Execute appropriate proficiency testing to ensure the quality throughout the quality and testing of molecular diagnostic testing to detect viral disease
  • Explain how clinical and public health laboratories can better associate and prepare to respond to outbreaks of viral disease
  • Describe how point of care testing may impact the diagnosis and management of the diseases over the next decade and define the role of laboratory professionals in the field of diagnostics
  • Recognize the advantages and limitations of metagenomics and review whether the technology is poised to be the best diagnostic approach for viral infections over the next decade.

The  Postgraduate Institute for Medicine accreditated this live activity for a maximum of 5AMA PRA category 1 credits. A physician can claim the credit commensurate based on the extent of their participation throughout the session.
