Description:
This 1 day course offers an interactive, delegate centred, approach to learning. We deliver this further CBCT imaging course to enable the delegate to maintain the safe operation and interpretation of CBCTs.
This day builds on the introductory CBCT level 2A course.
Delivery is based around current educational theory with focussed reflection, peer learning and discussion This format has been fine-tuned using delegate feedback since 2016. We aim to provide an engaging, non -threatening educational environment. Feedback has been very encouraging so far.
Aims and objectives
• Build on CBCT reporting skills gained since the CBCT level2A course.
• Allow delegates to `trouble shoot` any CBCT reporting or CBCT radiography issues that have arisen.
• Allow delegates to engage with their peers to help benchmark where they are in terms of their learning.
• Allow delegates some additional teaching on bone diseases and how they might present radiologically to the dentist
A didactic presentation is woven into a workshop format over the day focussing on bone diseases and their presentation on dental imaging.
Radiological interpretation exercises punctuate the day utilising protocols to guide the viewing clinician. These have proven very popular with delegates. Delegates are encouraged to bring x3 CBCT cases that they have been working on with them on the day-GDPR being respected.
Delegates must get written consent from their patients for these cases to be used for one day only in this teaching environment. Delegates must ensure that the cases load up onto a lap top with the manufacturers driving software available on the scan (Pure Dicom data sets will not drive on the day).
Outcomes
• Delegates feel more secure in their CBCT reporting– ability to analyse their imaging data and apply the finding to their baseline treatment planning.
• Delegates have increased their recognition and knowledge of bone diseases as they may be seen on 2D and 3D CBCT dental imaging.
The course builds from the first presentation. This is punctuated by reflective sessions and workshop elements. We have found this prevents information burn out` and maintains enthusiasm.
Understanding how Radiology reporting errors can occur and how Human Factors influence this process will be addressed in the afternoon session.
Delegates are invited to sign up for this course 3 months after attending the original CBCT 2B course to consolidate learning and address any issues which arise after the original training event.
