Cross Cultural Medicine Workshop is organized by Association of American Indian Physicians (AAIP) and will be held from Apr 23 - 26, 2020 at Crowne Plaza Albuquerque, Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States of America.
Who Should Attend:
Cross Cultural Medicine Workshop (CCMW) is designed to provide physicians, medical students, hospital staff, counselors, program staff, and healthcare professionals a greater understanding of traditional American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) healing practices and improve cultural communication between Native peoples and health professionals.
Course Description:
The AAIP Cross Cultural Medicine Workshop is scheduled for April 23-26, 2020 at the same time as the annual Gathering of Nations Powwow and is designed to provide participants with the unique experience of learning about the collaboration between western and traditional medicine. The workshop identifies strategies to improve communication between American Indian/Alaska Native patients and health care professionals and describes current health issues affecting Native communities in both reservation and urban settings. The complement of both approaches provides the opportunity to honor traditional healing practices while respecting the balance of mind, body and spirit. To sponsor this event and to assist a student or cover a speaker, donate online.
This workshop is for any health care professionals, medical students, pre-med students, residents, physicians and anyone who works in or will work in Native communities and are interested in learning healing strategies for Native patients in a culturally competent way. The 2020 workshop is AAIP's 27th annual and we hope you can attend. To register for this event online, see link below.
