This educational activity is designed for general cardiologists, Heart failure, internists, hospitalists, family physicians, cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons, electrophysiologists and interventional cardiologists, as well as nurses, technologists and other allied healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat cardiac and vascular disease.

Course Description:
Courage and Innovation – Heart failure and Heart Transplantation is structured as a comprehensive educational symposium striving to educate clinicians, physician trainees, nurses and other allied health professionals across a wide range of specialties in the application of innovative therapies for cardiovascular disease. The distinguished faculty for this event includes many of the foremost clinicians at the University of Chicago Heart and Vascular Center as well as internationally recognized guest faculty. Through focused didactics, panel discussion, case studies and interactive dialogue, participants will gain both broad perspective and detailed insights into medical and surgical therapies for complex cardiovascular disease.

Conference Objectives:
 Upon completion of this activity, the participants will be able to:
• Identify and manage the advanced heart failure patient in the outpatient setting
• Review the current diagnostic and management strategies for the common and uncommon cardiomyopathies 
• Review the latest in acute mechanical circulatory support and cardiac transplantation 
• Evaluate the role of molecular monitoring for rejection in cardiac transplantation 
• Identify strategies for the optimal care of post-transplant patients 
• Review the current practice strategies of APN/RN/PA and Pharmacist in the care of heart failure patients.
