Description:
This highly interactive case-based seminar is based on common spinal pathologies where specific intraoperative imaging knowledge and skills are applied. In addition, general concepts such as appropriate indications, selection of 2-D or 3-D modalities, and radiation protection will be addressed. During each case-based session, videos and small group discussions are integrated and time for questions is included.

This very interactive event consisting of focused case-studies has proven to be a successful format in the sister division AOTrauma and I am proud that France has been chosen to organize the first seminar for the spine surgeon’s community.

In this one-day intensive seminar, we will focus on common spine pathologies (lumbar, cervical, thoracic and lumbopelvic) where specific intraoperative imaging knowledge and skills are applied.

Goal of the seminar:
The AOSpine Intraoperative Imaging seminar addresses the principles, techniques, and concepts related to intraoperative imaging in the treatment of common spinal pathologies.

Learning Objectives:
• Set up the operating room (OR) for spinal surgery
• Reduce radiation hazards
• Select 2-D and 3-D intraoperative imaging modalities based on indications and limitations
• Perform intraoperative 2-D imaging for cervical, thoracic, and lumbar/sacral surgery
• Assess anatomy and implant positioning for these cases
• Describe the indications for intraoperative 3-D imaging and review the benefits and limitations
• Decide on postoperative CT scans
