The Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care is organized by American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM), Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA). The session will be held from Mar 18 - 21, 2020 at San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California, United States of America.

Targeted Audience:
The Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care is regulated for physicians, nurses, advanced practice nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, social workers, and chaplains who are interested in gaining, maintaining or extending the skills that are needed to operate efficiently in the field of hospice and palliative care.

Accreditation:
Physicians Continuing Medical Education Credits
AAHPM authorizes this live activity for a maximum of 28.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians can claim the credit commensurate depending on the extent of their participation throughout the session.

Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Points
American Board of Internal Medicine
Successful completion of this CME activity is followed by enrolling with evaluation. It enables a participant to earn up to 28.25 in medical knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) for the maintenance of the Certification program. Participants can obtain MOC points commensurate to the amount of CME credits declared for the activity. A CME provider must submit a participant's complete information to ACCME for the purpose of granting the ABIM MOC credit " certificate.

American Board of Pediatrics
Successful completion of this CME activity is followed by the participation in the activity and individual assessment of and provide feedback to the learner. It lets a learner earn up to 28.25 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.

Physician Assistants
Physician Assistants may claim a maximum of 28.25 Category 1 credits on completion of this activity. NCCPA accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society and AAFP prescribed credit.

Nurses
The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) is accredited by a provider of continuing nursing education (CNE) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC's) Commission on Accreditation under provider number P0284. On successful fulfillment of continuing nursing education (CNE), the session offers (1) attestation to attendance and (2) participation will be given an evaluation form that enables an RN participant to earn up to 28.25 CNE hour awards (60 minutes per CNE award hour). CNE award is valid up to December 31, 2020.

Purpose:
The Annual conference of Hospice and Palliative Care focuses on the expertise of both AAHPM and HPNA to accelerate the field objective, educate their staff and other healthcare professionals to present the quality healthcare services for those suffering from a serious illness by sharing the best possible evidence.

Objectives:
By the end of the conference participant will be able to:
• Incorporate progressions in knowledge into daily health practice and patient care and implement sound communication practices with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Utilize interdisciplinary care principles to recognize and maintain physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural issues to fulfill the goals of care for patients and families afflicted by serious illness
• Identify ethical, regulatory, and legal concerns related to hospice and palliative care
review current research findings in hospice and palliative care and illustrate their relevance to the care and treatment of patients with serious illness
• Develop and apply effective strategies for self-care and resilience
• identify opportunities and strategies for effective leadership, mentoring, and networking within the field of hospice and palliative care
discuss effective strategies and challenges for the delivery of hospice and palliative care in diverse settings
• apply effective strategies in teaching/learning situations
• identify opportunities to advance the practice and sustainability of hospice and palliative care within the changing healthcare and political environment through policy and advocacy at the local and national Level.
