Description:
This program on “Advanced Ocular Care” offers attendees an opportunity to learn about recent innovations across all areas of medical and surgical eye care. Courses will cover both clinical and surgical options with a special emphasis in emerging diagnostics, treatments and procedural techniques. Utilizing case presentations and advanced video formats, the attendee will benefit from some “eye opening” information.

Anterior segment presentations will include such topics as dry eye disease, infectious disease, chemical burn management, as well as cataract and refractive surgery co-management. Time will be spent covering the roll of the medical optometrist in cataract co-management including premium IOL selection as it relates to co-morbidities such as glaucoma and ocular surface disease. Posterior segment courses will cover neurological topics such as glaucoma, headache diagnosis and management, multiple sclerosis, idiopathic intracranial hypertension and anisocoria. Minimally invasive glaucoma surgical techniques (MIGS), including combined procedures such as ICE and CAKE, will be reviewed. Systemic disease courses will discuss the effects of sleep apnea, autoimmune disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease on vision. Lastly, we will look at the latest prescribing trends for both topical and oral medication in the optometric practice.
