31st Annual UC Davis Anesthesiology Update is organized by UC Davis Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and will be held from Nov 06 - 08, 2020 at Parc 55 San Francisco - a Hilton Hotel, San Francisco, California, United States of America.

Target Audience:
This course is designed for anesthesiologists, pain medicine physicians, residents and fellows. In addition, nurses and nurse anesthetists, with an interest in anesthesiology and involved as part of the perioperative care team of surgical patients may find this course beneficial.

Accreditation:
Physician Credit: The University of California, Davis, Health designates this live course for a maximum of 18.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the course.

MOCA Statement: This course contributes to the CME requirement for Part II: Lifelong Learning and Self Assessment of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s redesigned Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology Program® known as MOCA 2.0®. This course is approved for up to 18.25 MOCA 2.0® credits which are eligible for the patient safety component.

Description:
Needs Assessment:
Over the past 20 years new medications and monitoring devices have improved the quality and safety of anesthesiology. The introduction of pharmacogenetic testing, non-invasive monitoring, new and novel anesthetic and analgesic drugs, and the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning should see improvement in both quality and safety.

Duties beyond an anesthesiologist’s expected routine have included obstetrical, pediatric, and cardiothoracic anesthesia, and chronic pain management. Newer roles include acute perioperative pain management, transitional pain services, critical care medicine, and palliative care. Anesthesiologists should be prepared to assume the role of the perioperative physician within the perioperative surgical home.

All of these changes and new responsibilities require practitioners to stay up to date with evidence-based methods and strategies to assist them in providing better treatment options for patients.

This year’s conference will provide practitioners with evidence-based methods and strategies to assist them in providing better treatment options for their fragile patients. Faculty presenting and interacting with participants at this course have been selected on the basis of their comprehensive clinical experience and academic excellence.

Objectives:

• Identify the multiple etiologies of heart failure
• Understand the differences between and implications of systolic and diastolic heart failure
• Understand the challenges associated with performing anesthesia in the EP Lab
• Summarize important goals and milestones for how AI will advance quality and patient safety
• Define the key aspects and considerations for how artificial intelligence (AI) will bring automation into anesthesiology
