Accreditation:
IAIME is accredited with commendation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. IAIME designates this IAIME Medical Legal Institute: The Science, Art and Practice of Medical Evaluation educational activity for a maximum of 15.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM IAIME designates the 2020 Annual Scientific Session for a maximum of 10.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim the amount of credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in these activities.

IAIME MedicoLegal Institute: The Science, Art and Practice of Medical Evaluation - Needs and Objectives
The education, training and skill set required for independent medical evaluating physicians exceeds that required for treating physicians resulting in a learning gap, which, if not addressed, will lead to poor results for injured or ill persons and all other stakeholders. IAIME’s ‘The Science, Art and Practice of Medical Evaluation’ is designed to:
• Understand the various nuances of different examinations to assert injury, impairment and disability (workers comp, social security, personal injury, federal jurisdictions)
• Identify the complexity of concussion medical conditions. Various approaches to examination, determination of injury and appropriate treatments
• Understand the appropriate imaging studies for the evaluation of spinal disorders. There should be increased skill in interpretation of such imaging and applications to the medical condition
• Understand the role for ESI in the treatment regimen of spinal disorders
• Understand thought processes in determining the causation of an industrial injury
IAIME Annual Scientific Session - Needs and Objectives:
The focus of IAIME’s 33rd Annual meeting is on evidence-based knowledge, techniques and procedures that enhance independent medical evaluation, injury prevention and injury treatment. The education, training and skill set required for independent medical evaluation exceeds that required in the clinical setting resulting in a learning gap, which, if not addressed, will lead to poor results for injured or ill persons and for all other stakeholders. The objective of IAIME’s 33rd Annual meeting is to close this gap and to provide independent medical evaluators with the knowledge and tools to enhance practice performance and to improve outcomes for injured persons and other stakeholders by:
• Application of EBM principles in treatment and evaluation of injured persons
• Better understanding principles of causation in disease and injury
• Enhancing report writing skills
• Improving deposition and testimony skills
• Understanding implications of cultural differences
