The 17th American Psychosocial Oncology Society (APOS) Annual Conference unites together clinicians and researchers who work within the ?eld of psychosocial oncology to distribute the latest scienti?c, clinical, and community-based research. The Annual session presents rich networking opportunities for its members and related advocacy organizations. The theme of the 2020 Annual Conference is “Defining a New Era of Human-Centered Cancer Care.”

APOS serves interdisciplinary topics including nursing, social work, psychology, psychiatry, patient advocacy, spiritual care, and other healthcare professions. Participants can come from academic and community-based cancer centers of various sizes, as well as various cancer-focused organizations. APOS encourages innovation and cultural competence in psychosocial care within any setting.

Conference Objectives:
In this annual meeting, APOS intends to increase adoption and reach of the standard of psychosocial care in oncology through the following objectives,

Objective 1:
Define research, study and training priorities for the area of psychosocial oncology that reflect emerging trends and progressions in cancer care, such as immunotherapy and genomic-driven treatment, implementation science, collaborative care, and professional resilience.

Objective 2:
Illustrate how psychosocial oncology researchers, practitioners, advocates, and policymakers can provide high-value, human-centered cancer care offerings. Special attention is provided to care conditions associated with age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, language, disability, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression.

Objective 3:
Provide evidence of cost-effective care demonstrating the value-added that psychosocial oncology professionals provide to overall cancer care.

Objective 4:
Define innovative forms of psychosocial oncology care performances that support the integration and adoption of scientific, evidence-based findings into clinical practice, advocacy, and policy. Special attention is given to models for education or training that can be disseminated to conference attendees.
