Winter SKS: 2019 Shoulder, Knee, & Sports Meeting is organized by Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education, Inc (FORE) and will be held from Feb 21 - 24, 2019 at The Cliff Lodge, Snowbird, Utah, United States of America. The target audience for this medical event is orthopedic surgeons who desire to improve their arthroscopic knowledge and skill.
Course Description:
The 2019 Shoulder, Knee & Sports Meeting is designed to enhance knowledge of diagnosis and treatment alternatives relevant to the entire array of arthroscopic practice. The program focuses on surgical methods and technical pearls, which translates into improved operative performance and better patient outcomes.
Course Objectives:
Shoulder I :
• Identify indications and techniques for arthroscopic Bankart Repair
• Discuss and apply the arthroscopic Remplissage technique
• Explain advanced shoulder procedures including the Laterjet procedure and management of Latarjet/Bristow failure
• Formulate indications and techniques for SLAP repair and when it’s appropriate
Shoulder II:
• Discuss the mobilization and repair of large shoulder defects
• Determine the optimal graft for glenoid resurfacing
• Identify patterns of rotator cuff tearing, including supraspinatus, infraspinatus, and subscapularis
• Identify the consequences of misdiagnosis of Suprascapular neuropathy (SSN) and when it is an issue for treatment protocols
Shoulder Arthroscopy:
• Formulate the appropriate use of the reverse total shoulder technique and reconstruction
• Discuss and apply the arthroscopic Remplissage technique
• Describe the effects of bony glenoid and humeral defects on shoulder stability
Identify and apply the rehabilitation of TSA and reverse TSA
Patella:
• Identify the proper management of patella instability and joint pain
• Identify appropriate indications for MPFL restoration and MPFL reconstruction
• Discuss the evaluation of the unstable patellofemoral joint and biologic resurfacing
Hip:
• Discuss the challenge of the FAI patient workup to demonstrate the subtle early alterations in order to make the correct diagnosis and plan appropriate therapy
• Identify new techniques for arthroscopic rim trimming of FAI and labral repair
• Define improved strategies and techniques for femoral osteoplasty
• Examine the newest techniques and indication in hip arthroscopy and dysplasia
Articular Cartilage & Meniscus :
• Determine best strategies for hyaline repair of chondral defects (Microfx, OATS)
• Discuss and improve proper indication of articular cartilage injury
• Examine and apply new ways to optimize meniscectomy and meniscus repair
• Identify treatments for the management of OCD as dictated by the extent of the lesion and of the patient at the time of diagnosis
Knee Ligaments:
• Identify the best grafts and approaches for ACL reconstruction with BTB
• Discuss osteotomy with cruciate ligament issues
• Examine and employ best approaches for managing medial and lateral injuries to the knee
• Determine tibial and femoral revision options
