All healthcare providers involved in the care and management of patients with asthma.

Description:
This CME-certified program is intended for primary care physicians, pulmonologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers involved in the management of patients with severe asthma. During the activity, physician experts will discuss the workup and multidisciplinary management of patients with severe persistent asthma. Other activity topics include allergen avoidance, patient phenotyping and advanced treatment options for this condition.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
• Define severe persistent asthma.
• Apply methodologies used in the workup and co-management of severe persistent asthma. This includes co-management with allergists when appropriate.
• Suggest strategies and recommendations in allergen avoidance.
• Describe phenotyping and how it impacts the treatment of severe persistent asthma.
• Understand and utilize precision medicine (biologics/immunotherapy) in severe asthma-based cases on results of phenotyping.
• Define and discuss bronchial thermoplasty.
• Appropriately differentiate individual patient clinical situations and decide when to recommend specialty asthma centers for bronchial thermoplasty versus immunotherapy.
