Target Audience
This activity is intended for physicians with an interest in Sports Medicine.
This Conference will not only provide practical information regarding cardiomyopathy in sports, concussions, and hyperthermia in sports, it will also offer hands-on workshops where participants will practice and receive feedback on their osteopathic manipulative medicine, musculoskeletal ultrasound and joint injection techniques for common athletic injuries.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to:
• Identify which athletic injuries should not be treated with OMM and which would benefit from OMM
• Perform OMM to treat various athletic injuries to the back, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle or foot
• Identify benefits and uses of musculoskeletal ultrasound in sports medicine and athletic injuries
• Perform musculoskeletal ultrasound on a human participant
• Evaluate the benefits and risks of joint injections
• Perform joint injections on practice models
• Discuss caridomyopathy in sports
• Identify strategies to prevent concussions
• Describe the prevention, identification and treatment of hyperthermia in sports
