OVERVIEW

Rhinitis and hayfever Course is organized by Imperial College London and will be held from Mar 11 - 12, 2019 at St Mary's Hospital Medical School, London, England, United Kingdom.

The target audience for this medical event is suitable for doctors (GPs, specialist trainees and consultants in Allergy, Paediatrics, Respiratory Medicine or ENT), as well as nurses and other healthcare professionals wishing to improve their ability to manage patients with allergic rhinitis in daily practice.

Conference Description:
This course will cover the mechanisms, clinical presentation and advanced diagnostic and management strategies for allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis in adults and children. It includes hands-on demonstrations on diagnostic procedures such as rhinoscopy, nasendoscopy and nasal challenges, as well as interactive differential diagnosis sessions using nasal imaging. Key aspects of allergen-specific immunotherapy will be reviewed, including efficacy biomarkers, clinical risks and benefits, as well as case-based discussions.

Course Aims:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
• Relate the most up-to-date knowledge on the pathophysiology of allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis to the evaluation of new disease biomarkers and therapeutic strategies, such as biological drugs.
• Appraise diagnostic procedures such as nasal examination, rhinoscopy and imaging techniques for the diagnosis of rhinitis and rhinosinusitis in the context of the medical history.
• Understand the complementary roles of medical and surgical treatment in chronic rhinosinusitis.
• Appreciate the relationship between upper and lower airway allergic disease.
• Compare the underlying immune mechanisms, efficacy biomarkers and indications of sublingual versus subcutaneous immunotherapy for allergic rhinitis.
• Estimate the benefits and risks of allergen-specific immunotherapy for the treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis in children and adults in clinical practice.

Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
