Radiation protection training course 2019

Radiation protection training course is organized by The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and will be held from Apr 01 - 05, 2019 at The Royal Marsden School, London, England, United Kingdom.

Course Outline
The course will provide the theoretical background and training necessary for the radiological protection requirements of both ionising and non-ionising radiations used in hospitals.

The main four-day module covers the following subject areas: radiation risks, dosimetry, biological effects, instrumentation, legislation, transport, emergencies, and safe practice in the medical uses of ionising radiations.

As well as lectures, there will be small, informal workshop sessions which will provide for a range of interests. An optional fifth day will be run on radiation protection issues around the medical use of non-ionising radiations.

The course is at a level suitable for hospital physicists working in the field of radiation protection or those who want to expand their knowledge in this field. It is particularly suitable for those who wish to become Radiation Protection Advisers (RPA) and covers the Basic Underpinning Knowledge (Basic Syllabus) as set out in Annex 3 of the HSE statement on Radiation Protection Advisers.
