Pancreas Symposium 2019: Current Controversies in Benign and Malignant Pancreatic Disease is organized by Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) and will be held from Mar 21 - 22, 2019 at Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Heart Center, New York City, New York, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is gastroenterologists, surgeons, internists, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, RNs, PAs, NPs and other medical professionals involved in the evaluation, diagnosis and/or management of patients with benign and malignant pancreatic disease. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 11.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) MOC Credit:
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 8.75 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to the ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Conference Description:
This conference will review current controversies and procedures for managing complex pancreatic disease, both benign and malignant. Acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cystic neoplasms and pancreatic cancer are among the most complex cases that physicians are confronted with as internists, gastroenterologists, oncologists, and surgeons. Our internationally recognized faculty will present lectures and case presentations to help practicing physicians treat pancreatic disease.

Conference Objectives:
• Discuss current evidence-based guidelines for the surgical and endoscopic management of acute pancreatitis
• Explain how to diagnose and treat pancreatic insufficiency
• Learn standard of care treatment algorithms for pancreatic adenocarcinoma, including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy
• Explore “new horizons” for improving survival in pancreatic adenocarcinoma, including when to consider clinical trials and immunotherapy
• Discuss the diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis and when to refer patients for total pancreatectomy with autologous islet cell transplantation
• Identify new and enhanced imaging techniques of the pancreas
• Explain how to diagnose and manage autoimmune pancreatitis, pancreatic cystic neoplasms and incidentally found pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors
• Describe the physiology of pain in pancreatitis
• Identify new techniques in endoscopic ablation of select pancreatic lesions
• Learn the role of genetics in pancreatic disease, both benign and malignant.
