Pain Management and Opioids: Balancing Risks and Benefits is organized by University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) and will be held on Sep 12, 2019 at UNTHSC Medical Education & Training, Fort Worth, Texas, United States of America. Target Audience:
This activity is intended for Physicians who actively prescribe Schedule II and III controlled substances.

Accreditation:
The University of North Texas Health Science Center is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to award continuing medical education to physicians.The University of North Texas Health Science Center has requested that the AOA Council on Continuing Medical Education approve this program for 1 hour of AOA Category 1A credit. Approval is currently pending.

Statement of Need:
The REMS curriculum for this activity follows the FDA Blueprint for Prescriber Education for Extended-Release (ER) and Long-Acting (LA) Opioid Analgesics.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to:
• Discuss assessment of patients for treatment with ER/LA opioids
• Counsel patients and caregivers about the safe use, properstorage and disposal of these medications
• Safely initiate, modify and discontinue treatment and manage ongoing therapy with these medications
