Paediatric Dysphagia Videofluoroscopy Swallow Study Course is organized by UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (ICH) and will be held from May 20 - 21, 2019 at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, London, England, United Kingdom.
Who Should Attend:
This 2 day course is aimed at dysphagiatrained speech and language therapists who are interested in further developing their skills in paediatric videofluoroscopy swallow studies.
Structure of Course:
The 2 days will consist of presentations and workshops in the following areas:
• Referral to paediatric VFSS
• Role of MDT
• VFSS procedure
• Analysis, interpretation and management
It is anticipated that delegates attending the course will have had some previous experience and/or training in analysing studies.
Timetable:
Day 1: The first day will consist of a range of practical presentations including the normal and abnormal swallow, assessment profiles, developing competencies and application of a severity scoring tool. Additionally there will be presentations by members of the Radiology team and a Respiratory Paediatrician.
Day 2: Themed analysis and interpretation workshops run by specialist SLTs in the areas of ENT/head and neck; cardiorespiratory, cleft/ craniofacial, neurology and general surgery/ gastro. All delegates will have the opportunity to attend each workshop.
