Course Overview :
This Course is a 2 ½ day hands-on course developed to provide training in musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) specific to hemophilic joint disease. The objective of the course is to enable hemophilia physicians to use MSKUS as a point-of care imaging tool to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of joint pains. The course is geared towards hemophilic joint disease to recognize joint bleeding, synovial hypertrophy and synovitis, cartilage degradation, osteochondral lesions and other structural joint abnormalities.

Leading MSK ultrasound experts will cover ultrasound scanning, sonoanatomy, and sonopathology pertaining to hemophilic joint disease through interactive lectures, case presentations, round table discussions, and advanced MSKUS imaging techniques including MSKUS examination of hemophilic joints. This program is currently the only hands-on scanning course that provides comprehensive training and experience in musculoskeletal ultrasound in hemophilia.

Course Objectives :
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
• Describe MSKUS basics and knobology
• Operate an ultrasound machine
• Describe sonoanatomy of ankles, knees and elbows
• Apply standard transducer positions for hemophilia joint ultrasound
• Distinguish bloody from non-bloody effusions
• Perform a diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound recognizing hemarthrosis, synovitis and structural abnormalities (meniscus, tendons, ligaments)
• Quantify synovial hypertrophy and synovitis by Power Doppler
• Quantify cartilage health and osteochondral lesions

Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
