Medical Cannabis was legalised in Australia in November 2016. The global legal cannabis market is expected to grow to over US$20 billion by 2020. There is good clinically-trialled evidence that it may be of benefit in Chronic Pain, MS, Nausea in Cancer related Chemotherapy and Drug Resistant Epilepsy. The TGA has also approved prescriptions for PTSD and Autism symptoms.

Dr Joe Kosterich - author, keynote speaker, general practitioner and health industry consultant
Joe is a Perth-based GP with over 25 years’ experience who writes for numerous medical and mainstream publications. A regular on TV and radio providing expert comment on health and medical issues in Australia and internationally. He has written several books on health and wellness. Joe is medical advisor to Medical Cannabis company Little Green Pharma.

Prof Marco Falasca - Curtin University
A specialist in metabolic science, Prof Falasca will present his work on pancreatic cancer using chemotherapy in combination with cannabinoids.

Dr Richard Hopkins - Managing Director of Zelda Therapeutics
Dr Hopkins is an experienced bio-pharmaceutical executive with over 11 years in corporate leadership roles with public biotechnology companies. He has an established track record in drug development of novel cancer therapies and has strong experience with corporate strategy, business development and intellectual property matters. During his career Dr Hopkins has managed and overseen several strategic alliance and licensing deals with global pharmaceutical partners.

Richard holds a PhD in Molecular Biology, is an author on over 25 peer-reviewed publications and is an inventor on 17 patents and patent applications. Dr Hopkins currently serves as a member of the Western Australian Ausbiotech Committee.

Jason Jordan - Prescribed Patient
Jason was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis 3 years ago. He was deteriorating fast and had reached the point of being unable to walk without an aid.  Short-term memory loss, balance issues, numbness, double-vision, insomnia, cognition impairment, anomic aphasia, peripheral & trigeminal neuralgia all became part of daily life because conventional medicines did very little to help. Jason was the first patient in WA to receive Medical Cannabis and says that it changed his life.    

Patient Advocate will be discussing their journey with Pancreatic cancer and how medical cannabis has helped.
