IPA 2019 International Congress is organized by International Psychogeriatric Association (IPA) and will be held from Aug 31 - Sep 03, 2019 at Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry - USC, Santiago de compostela, Galicia, Spain.
The target audience for this medical event is professionals from the entire healthcare team - psychiatrists, neurologists, geriatricians, primary care physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and more to attend.
The Joint Congress of the International Psychogeriatric Association and the Spanish Psychogeriatric Society. This is the largest event of the IPA since the Congress of San Francisco in 2016. The Congress will take place in the wonderful city of Santiago de Compostela, which for many of you will evoke fond memories of the 2010 International Meeting, which brought together 800 people from all parts of the world.
The Congress motto reflects both the spirit of this city and the essence of IPA. Since the Middle Ages, innumerable have been the pilgrims who crossed Europe to reach Santiago, walking from the East through the French Way, by boat from the North, the English Way, or by the Portuguese Way from the South. Many pathways, walkers with different cultures converging on a common goal, contributing thus to outline the concept of future Europe.
Few places in the world can better symbolize the aspiration of the IPA to constitute the agora in which the wide range of professionals necessary to improve the mental health of the elderly can be expressed. Activities as varied as basic research, clinical care, prevention; targeting proposals valid both for the people who live in their homes or in the different types of residential institutions (the kind know today and those still waiting to be invented). In short, the IPA as a protective umbrella for professionals and a catalyst for knowledge.
The collaboration of a broad Scientific Committee, led by John O'Brian, will ensure the configuration of a program of excellence, which will be enriched by your contributions and will undoubtedly reflect the interdisciplinary model of the IPA. The first day, 31 August, will be devoted to workshops. Along the other days, there will be plenty of room for plenary sessions, symposia, oral free communications and a large space for posters.
Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
