Introduction to Practical Acupuncture is organized by University of North Texas (UNT) Health Science Center Continuing Education and will be held from May 03 - 04, 2019 at UNTHSC Medical Education & Training, Fort Worth, Texas, United States of America.

This activity is intended for practicing physicians, residents and others with an interest in medical acupuncture.

The University of North Texas Health Science Center has requested that the AOA Council on Continuing Medical Education approve this program for 10 hours of AOA Category 1A CME credits. Approval is currently pending.

Course Description:
Complementary care techniques such as medical acupuncture may reduce the need for prescription medications and invasive procedures to treat pain. This introductory course will provide practical knowledge in medical acupunture. Consisting of lecture, demonstration and hands-on practice, the course is open to physicians and others interested in learning acupuncture for clinical application. Non-physicians should review their state boards to determine if acupuncture is permitted in their professional scope of practice. In this course, learners will practice acupuncture techniques on each other and will be required to sign a release prior to participation.

Educational Objectives?:
Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to:
• Describe the history, theory and evidence of medical acupuncture
• Select patients who would benefit from medical acupuncture treatment
• Provide medical acupuncture to reduce the need for prescription medications and invasive procedures to treat pain
• Perform acupuncture in clinical settings.
