The 2019 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium will take place from October 6th to 9th in Glasgow, Scotland. Through the work of Professor Ian Donald and his colleagues at the University of Glasgow, this historic city has a rightful claim to be a birth place of medical ultrasound imaging, with the first paper on its use in obstetrics published in the Lancet in 1958. Some of Professor Donald’s equipment can be seen in the University’s Hunterian Museum and IEEE IUS 2019 will be held a 20-minute walk away at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), including the well-named Armadillo, on the north bank of the River Clyde.
