OVERVIEW

EUDD 2019 - Frequently Asked Gastroenterology Questions in Primary Care. The European General Practitioners' Experiences is organized by Italian Society of Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy / Societa Italiana di Gastroenterologia ed Endoscopia Digestiva (SIGE) and will be held from Apr 05 - 06, 2019 at Hotel Ripa, Rome, Lazio, Italy.

Scientific Rationale:
The increasing epidemic of gastrointestinal diseases represents an onerous burden both for health and economy. Moreover, not only gastrointestinal diseases are increasing in evidence, but also the number of young people affected by these disorders (i.e. gastroesophageal reflux disease, H.pylori infection, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticular disease) is growing.

The clinical management of these diseases appears to be, therefore, of utmost importance. It involves different approaches including dietary and lifestyle changes, adequate screening exams, diagnostic tests, therapeutic strategy.

These topics are an object of many questions that will be addressed by European general practitioners and expert gastroenterologists through the presentation of a clinical case raising clinical questions, always following an evidence-based approach.

Interactivity by the interactive profile of lectures, small number of participants (max.50), adequate time for voting and discussion (at least 45’) after clinical case.

This educational event is extremely useful for physicians involved into gastrointestinal disorders, especially the young ones, as it offers an inclusive and up-to-date scenario of the management of the most frequent gastrointestinal diseases, presenting the best evidence-based insights of this topic.

Educational needs
1. Determine the nature and extent of knowledge gaps in the care of patients with the most common digestive diseases
2. Address diagnostic and treatment guidelines
3. Enhance clinical performance in digestive disease care processes.

Expected educational outcome
After the course, learners should be able to:
1. Assess their own strengths and weaknesses in digestive disease management
2. Identify digestive diseases diagnostic algorithms and solving strategies
3. Adjust their future clinical performance in light of their self-assessments.

Educational objectives
• Gain an understanding of the prescription appropriateness of PPI in gastrointestinal diseases
• Become familiar with up to date therapeutic management of Helicobacter pylori infection
• Develop an understanding of the diagnostic tools in the diagnosis of IBS
• Refine the knowledge and fill in the gap in the management of diverticular disease bleeding.

Methods to promote active learning
• The balance between presentations and discussions is envisaged with voting by the audience during the debates which are planned for each session
• quality of discussion and interaction is enhanced thanks to smaller groups for discussions.

Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
