Conference Description :
The use of digital dentistry has become mainstream in dental clinics. Intraoral optical impressions are easy to master, save valuable time in the clinic, and improve patient acceptance. This course is composed of a didactic and a hands-on portion. The didactic portion involves a presentation on the latest technology used in prosthodontic and surgical planning of dental implants, the fusion of optical scans to cone beam CT and the computer-aided design of restrictive surgical guides.

The hands-on portion focuses on optical scanning of diagnostic casts, and printing of surgical guides. Overall, this course is designed to highlight the technology available, how it is used, its advantages and limitations.

Conference Objectives are :

During this lecture participants will learn:
• To understand principles underlying optical impressions and how they are used in 3D planning ofdental implants.
• To become familiar with the digital workflow for 3D implant planning, design and manufacture of surgical guides.
• To become acquainted of in office solutions to fabricate surgical guides, and how to use them.
• To recognize methods of implementation and limitations of digital technology.
