Course Overview & Objectives
This course is also approved by the Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners. A written test given by our faculty completes their requirements. When registering, please let us know if you will be working in Mississippi.
This course will provide training for auxiliary personnel in the technique of accurate intraoral dental radiography. Practical experience will be provided in radiographic technique, darkroom procedures, and mounting intraoral x-rays. The long cone paralleling technique will be emphasized. The "bisecting the angle" technique will be presented in theory and in practice. Each participant will be required to take a full mouth set of radiographs on a dry skull.
An understanding of the factors involved is necessary to achieve satisfactory results. Therefore, theory will be presented only to the extent of the participant's need to understand the reasons for various technique procedures, and the background for the safe and efficient use of dental x-ray equipment.
We strongly recommend bringing a sweater or jacket as temperatures may vary from class to clinic during the course. A Verification of Participation letter will be issued upon successful completion of the course.
Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
