Description:
While the deceased can't raise their voice and tell you who they are, their remains can speak volumes. The non-presumptive proofs of identity can come in the form of anthropological assessment, DNA analysis, the medico-legal autopsy findings, or dental examination and comparison. In the field of forensic dentistry, an odontologist obtains postmortem physical and biologic dental evidence from the deceased, establishes points of concordance with information contained in an antemortem dental record, and forms an opinion on the degree of scientific certainty that the previously unknown remains can be properly identified. Our course will lay the ground work for the process of making a forensic dental identification a reality.
